Welcome, dear reader, to Midweek Meditation on the Travis Writes Sometimes Substack.
As part of this Substack, I will occasionally include briefer posts on Wednesday or Thursday with what I’m praying for that particular week and inspirational readings that I came across in my devotional life that I believe could benefit you, the audience, as well as myself. This is in addition to the weekly Monday newsletter.

Reading
Christians don’t need to gloss over evil to maintain our joy and hope. Our Savior Jesus confronted darkness directly and overcame it through his death and resurrection. Pray for peace in our world, with renewed thankfulness for the eternal hope to which we can cling.
-Monday’s newsletter from The Pour Over (in a story about escalating hostilities in Ukraine)
So you have pain now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. On that day you will ask nothing of me. Very truly, I tell you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
I have said this to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution, but take courage: I have conquered the world!
-Jesus of Nazareth (in John 16:22-23, 33, NRSV)
Prayer
Lord God, while the world is discouraged, guide my eyes to you and things that are of you. Thank you for the beauty available all throughout the earth. Help my eyes to be open to it.
I pray for peace. I know it is a big ask, but I pray for peace, and I will continue to pray for peace until my last breath.
Amen.
